This is an A major reel from Kerr’s First collection of Merry Melodies, c1875. A very similar tune, Nighan Bhàn a Mhùiller (Miller’s Fair Daughter [sic.]) is to be found in William Gunn’s Caledonian Repository of Music Adapted for the Bagpipes, first published in 1848. The Kerr’s setting, which we play, is unusual in having an ABCB structure; that is, the second and fourth parts are the same.
