OK, let’s get the title issue resolved – or made yet more muddy – right at the start. The great piper, Willie Clancy, allegedly translated this from the Irish, An Phis Fhliuch. Apparently, Mr Clancy was too much the gentleman to translate it accurately, as he felt The Wet Pussy might cause offence. Can’t think why. However, it would appear that the original title was O’Farrell’s Welcome to Limerick, appearing under that name in Patrick O’Farrell’s 1801 collection, Collection of National Irish Music for the Union Pipes.

This is another slip jig, also in the mixolydian mode. The fourth part features my approximation of the ‘cran’, a piping ornament.
