This is another classic tune from the playing of Denis Murphy (1910-1974), from Lisheen, Gneeveguilla (also spelled Gneevgullia), Co. Kerry in the heart of the Sliabh Luachra region. He spent many years in the USA before returning to Lisheen in 1965.

Melodically, polkas tend to be quite simple tunes in 2/4 time. When played well, that is, with plenty of bounce, they are the tunes most likely to get feet tapping.
